Meet Rashell
Rashell is driven to make sure working families in Burien have what they need: affordable housing, living wages, strong tenant protections, quality education, accessible parks and after-school programs, and clear support for working families and small businesses.
She’s determined to build a city where every young person can grow into a future leader and no family has to choose between rent and groceries.
Rashell was born and raised in a rural community, the daughter of a Local 357 union pipefitter-plumber and a mother who battled addiction. From them she learned hard work, honesty, and integrity, and saw firsthand how quickly stability can unravel when the safety net frays. She knows what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck, and she became the first in her family to graduate college at Syracuse University, giving her a clear understanding of the value of education.
After navigating the immigration process with her husband, Rashell settled in Burien, where they rent their home and own a local locksmith business. A community organizer for more than a decade with roots in the service industry, Rashell will bring hands-on, working-class leadership to City Council.
